How to Measure Front Rise and Back Rise

WAIST
1. Button up the pair of jeans. Lay the jeans out on a flat surface with the top front edge of the waistband even with the top back edge and pull taut on the outside waistband corners.
2. Using a fabric measuring tape, measure the top of the waistband from one side to the other.
3. Double this to get the jeans waist measurement.
FRONT RISE
1. Button up the pair of jeans. Lay the jeans out on a flat surface.
2. Measure from the crotch seam to the top of the front of the jeans, as indicated by the photograph.
3. This is the front rise measurement.
BACK RISE
1. Button up the pair of jeans. Turn the jeans over with the back pockets facing up. Lay the jeans out on a flat surface.
2. Measure from the crotch seam to the top of the back waistband of the jeans, as indicated by the photograph.
3. This is the back rise measurement.
UPPER THIGH
1. Lay the jeans out on a flat surface.
2. Measure straight from the crotch to the outside of the leg parallel to the waistband as indicated by the photograph.
3. This is the upper thigh measurement.
KNEE PART I
1. Lay the jeans out on a flat surface.
2. Measure 13 inches from the crotch seam down the inside seam of the leg, as indicated by the photograph.
KNEE PART II
1. From this point, 13 inches down from the crotch seam, measure from one side of the pant leg to the other, across the width of the knee.
2. This is the knee measurement.
LEG OPENING
1. Lay the jeans on a flat surface with the outseams at both edges, indicated by the photograph.
2. Measure across the leg opening from one edge to the other.
3. This is the leg opening measurement.
INSEAM
1. Lay the jeans out on a flat surface. Turn the inseam to the center of the leg, as indicated by the photograph.
2. Measure from the crotch seam to the outer edge of the leg opening along the inseam of the leg.
3. This is the inseam measurement.

P1 (Shoulders)
Measure from armhole seam to armhole seam across the shouldersP2 (Chest)
Measure under arms across the full part of the chest. Be sure to keep the measuring tape level and slightly taut.P3 (Sleeve Length, from arm opening)
From the arm opening seam, measure to arm cuff opening.P4 (Sleeve length, with shoulder)
From the center neck seam, measure across shoulder seam and then to the arm cuff opening.P5 (Center Back)
Starting from the neck seam, measure to the bottom hem, center back.P6 (Arm Opening, Curved)
Starting from the shoulder seam, following the curve of the armhole, measure to the side seam.P7 (Bottom Opening)
Measure across the bottom hem or rib opening
P8 (Collar)
Fold collar in half as shown, then measure across the collar opening. -
SHIRTS
P1 (Arm Opening, Curved)
Starting from the shoulder seam, following the curve of the armhole, measure to the side seam.P2 (Chest)
Measure under arms across the full part of the chest. Be sure to keep the measuring tape level and slightly taut.P3 (Shoulders, Back)
Measure from armhole seam to armhole seam across the shoulders where indicated.P4 (Center Back)
Starting from the neck seam, measure to the bottom hem, center back.P5 (Waist)
With the shirt laid flat, measure from edge to edge at the waistline. Measure at the narrowest point of the waist or mid-torso of the shirt.P6 (Bottom Opening, Hip Measurement)
With the shirt laid flat, measure from edge to edge at the base of the shirt or the bottom opening.
P7 (Sleeve Length, from arm opening)
From the arm opening seam, measure to arm cuff opening.P8 (Collar Opening)
Fold collar in half as indicated, keeping the collar taut but not stretched. While flat, measure the width of the collar, from neck button to the center back of collar. -

P1 (Chest)
Measure under arms across the full part of the chest. Be sure to keep the measuring tape level and slightly taut.P2 (Arm Opening, Curved)
Starting from the shoulder seam, following the curve of the armhole, measure to the side seam.P3 (Shoulders)
Measure from armhole seam to armhole seam across the shoulders.P4 (Center Back)
Starting from the neck seam, measure to the bottom hem, center back.P5 (Bottom Opening)
Measure across the bottom hem or rib opening.
P6 (Sleeve Length, from arm opening)
From the arm opening seam, measure to arm cuff opening.P7 (Collar Opening)

Button up the shorts. Lay the shorts out flat. Measure from the crotch seam to the top of the back of the shorts.
P4 (Waist Measurement)
Button up the shorts. Lay the shorts out flat with the top front edge even with the top back edge and pull tight. Measure from one side of the waist to the other. Double this measurement for waist size.P5 (Out Seam Measurement)
Measure the shorts outseam from the top of the waist band to the bottom of leg hem, down the outside side seam of the leg.P6 (Inseam Measurement)
Lay the shorts out flat with inseam at the center of the leg. Measure from the crotch to the edge of the leg along the inside seam of the leg.P7 (Leg Opening Measurement)
Lay the shorts out flat with the outseams at both edges. Measure from one side of the leg opening to the other side. -
VESTS
P1 (Chest)
Measure under arms across the full part of the chest. Be sure to keep the measuring tape level and slightly taut.P2 (Arm Opening, Curved)

Measure from the bottom of the hat to the top of the crown.P2 (Inside Circumference)
Measure with a soft measuring tape along the inside of hat where indicated.
